Why Fall Is the Best Time to Start Laser Hair Removal
If you’ve been thinking about laser hair removal but keep telling yourself, “I’ll start in the spring,” I have a little secret for you…
Fall is actually one of the best times to start.
And honestly, it makes a lot more sense than waiting until the weather warms up.
We tend to think about unwanted hair when shorts, dresses, swimsuits and bare legs come back out. But by the time spring rolls around, you’re already wishing you had started months ago.
Here’s why starting your laser hair removal treatments in the fall can put you in a much better position for next summer.
Laser hair removal takes time — and that’s a good thing
Laser hair removal isn’t a one-and-done treatment. Hair grows in different cycles, and the laser is most effective when the hair is in the right stage of its growth cycle.
That means treatments are spaced out over time rather than being done every few days or weeks.
So when you start in the fall, you’re giving your treatments several months to work before you really need to worry about bare-leg and swimsuit season.
Instead of starting in April or May and thinking, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?”, you can head into summer already well into your treatment plan.
Fall and winter make it easier to avoid sun exposure
This is a big one.
Laser hair removal treatments are generally easier to plan when you have less sun exposure. In the Okanagan, we know how much sun we get during the spring and summer months — and keeping your skin protected is important year-round, but especially when having laser treatments.
During the cooler months, you’re naturally spending more time covered up and generally getting less incidental sun exposure.
That makes fall and winter a much more convenient time to get started.
And yes, sunscreen is still your friend. Always.
You don’t have to worry about growing your hair out
One of the best parts about starting in the fall?
You’re not trying to coordinate your treatments around beach vacations, weddings, shorts weather or the dreaded “I need to shave my legs tonight” situation.
You can simply start your treatment plan and let the process happen.
Over time, as the hair becomes finer and growth is reduced, shaving becomes less and less of a chore.
And isn't that really the goal?
Less shaving. Less planning. Less thinking about your body hair.
Starting now means working toward next summer
This is probably the biggest reason I recommend starting in the fall.
If you wait until spring to begin, you’re starting the process at the exact time you’re probably wanting the biggest results.
Instead, think of fall as your head start.
Start now → continue through the fall and winter → keep up with your treatments → arrive at spring and summer reaping the benefits of the progress.
You’re not waiting until you need the results to start working toward them.
So, when should you start?
If laser hair removal has been sitting on your “maybe someday” list, now is a great time to move it to the top.
Whether you're thinking about underarms, bikini, legs, face or another area, we can talk through what makes sense for you, how often you'll need treatments and what kind of results you can realistically expect.
There’s no need to wait for spring.
Start when everyone else is covering up — so you can be ready when everyone else starts uncovering.
If you've been thinking about laser hair removal, fall is your sign to get started.
